Because of my work at a Caldera Arts youth camp last summer, I was offered the opportunity to take part in an Artist in Residency in the beautiful Blue Lake setting…and I took it! For the first time in my life, I will be dedicating a WHOLE WEEK to my craft in a retreat-like setting with other artists of different mediums. I will have two rooms, one to reside in and one for creativity plus a shared studio space to practice in. My intention is to focus on songwriting, but I will come prepared to nurture the whole gamut of my creative projects connected to music as medicine / performance / youth work…
Songwriting for my audience-integrative solo performance format
Songwriting for aural-tradition community singing settings
Songwriting for my Latin band, ¡Chiringa!
Development of a youth song / soul / nature-based program concept
I’ll be bringing books, instruments, and notepads! No pressure or anything! But I do hope to come away with renewed inspiration, a good batch of new song material, and developed ideas that will feed freshness and relevance into the work I’m doing as an artist / healer / community facilitator / teacher. I look forward to sharing with you all what this land and community bestows upon me! Gratitude to Caldera Arts for this great gift of an opportunity!
